Big shock to hear today that Michael Marra has died. Many are speaking exceptionally well of him as a human being, but I know him only through his songs which I have always found to be not only humane and articulate but also thoroughly, engagingly, inventively, and disarmingly musical.

........ and indeed one of his quirky songs, "Silence" has been covered by Coope, Boyes and Simpson and can be found on "As If" - i.e on the same album as their version of "A Hill of Little Shoes"

The Marra Family have invited donations (http://www.musical1.com/Michael_Marra/) for efforts to specifically bring the El Sistema Orchestra Project for disadvantaged children to Dundee. They have established a Trust Fund with Blackadders. Solicitors in Dundee to help facilitate this project.
