The Times today confirms that today is Swarb's 70th birthday. Who remebers his (somewhat early) obituary in The Daily Telegraph some 15 years ago?

We saw him play live in February, he was spellbinding

I certainly do (http://www.alexlyons.co.uk/atrax/swarb_archive/obituary_files/telegraph_obituary.htm). I have good reason to. I had at the time been writing the occasional piece for The Irish Post (http://www.irishpost.ie/) about performers who were born in Coventry or who had made Coventry the base from which they operated.

When the Telegraph piece appeared, I began preparing a thousand word piece about him. For some reason, I had to postpone submitting the finished piece. Before I eventually got a chance to submit it, it had becone clear that The Telegraph had got it wrong the man affectionately known as teh Swarb was alive, although still not especially well.
