Title: Rock Legacy Interview
Post by Pete Atkin on Today at 15:10
I suspect that MVs may well find quite a bit that's of interest on Ged Eastick's Rock Legacy website.   Oh yes, and I've also had some enjoyable exchanges and conversations with him myself, the results of which can be found here --

Very interesting interview: I'm even more pessimistic than Pete about the future of music as home entertainment. I asked a songwriting friend how long people would sit and listen to one of his songs before they started talking about something else. "Ten seconds, when they're polite" came the reply and he was right. The thrill of discovering something new which we had back in the 60's and 70's has long since vanished: people only listen to things they already know backwards or after someone has told them that X is absolutely fantastic.

On a more technical level, when writing a song Pete must have said to himself "I'm probably going to have to sing this myself." Did the question of vocal range have any effect on the writing of the song?

If Pete brought out a new album of songs I would sit down and listen to the whole thing, while doing nothing else.

That's true, that. It's what I did with Midnight Voices, Winter Spring AND the Lakeside Sessions.

Though I concede I can't think of another artist whose album I would treat in the same way.

I take it as a compliment that Clive has included a link to this interview on his own website - www.clivejames.com, as if you didn't know.   Go to Poetry, and then to Lyrics.
