Title: Clive James's poem "Woman Resting"
Post by Kevin Cryan on Today at 16:55
It’s interesting, and possibly instructive, to hear one of Clive’s poems, in this case Woman Resting (http://www.clivejames.com/poetry/james/resting), being read someone other than (http://www.youtube.com/user/SpokenVerse#p/u/11/-b5Oz2GS90g)* Clive himself.

Antonio Mancini (1852–1930)

Oil on canvas, 23 5/8 x 39 3/8 in. (60.9 x 100 cm)

Hmmm... I'm not convinced that this is the most nuanced reading possible. He seems, to me, to get some of the enjambment wrong. I'd prefer Clive.

I'd say he misses most of the enjambment. He reads exactly like I tell my students not to, pausing in the middle and end of practically every line.

Well, yes: I was being generous. He could do with clearing his throat as well.
