I have already reported in my latest Newsletter that the booking for me and Simon W at the Pheasantry on May 6th (Coronating Day) has been cancelled - not because of the coronation, but because Pizza Express are closing the retaurant completely from 1st-19th May for a major refurbishment, which I hope is incidentally good news for the longer life of the venue. This news has been nearly as much of a surprise for the live music team as it has for me.

But they have found me a new date: Sunday 18th June 2023

If you have already booked for 6th May, I understand that your booking will be automatically transferred to the new date; if the new date doesn't work for you, I'm afraid you will have to let them know.

Hoping to see as many of you there as possible.

I gather that only the restaurant is accessible to wheelchairs. Whereabouts is Pete playing?

PS to the reply sent just now: greetings to the Rt Hon Sir Pete and Midvodians all - these days I am a wheelchair user but am still a huge fan of PA/CJ songs - NH ;)

Doesn't look promising I'm afraid, Naomi. There are a few steps, with handrails, up from the courtyard area (street level) to the main restaurant floor entrance, then from there a staircase down to the music venue. They are (or have been) refurbishing the place, but they don't seem to be claiming wheelchair access. Have any MVs been recently? Might be worth giving Pizza Express a call -- their central contact number is 020 7439 4962.

I did contact them and thanks for your reply, Steve. I cannot walk at all so short of a Midvodian slinging me over his or her shoulder to tackle the stairs, we will have to admit defeat :(

Now there's a challenge! Surely some healthy and gallant Midvodian or Midvodienne will volunteer to carry Naomi (she's only small) over the Pheasantry's stairs in four weeks' time?
