Title: Alstonefield 23 March
Post by Rob Spence on Today at 15:36
Just to report here that the Alstonefield gig was a huge success. The venue, a village hall, was packed to the rafters with maybe about 150 people in. There was an unannounced short preliminary set by quirky chanteuse Anna Ryder, and then Pete performed two sets in which we were treated to a wide-ranging tour of the canon, including some songs that are rarely heard live. The full set list was:
Time To Burn - k
Ice Cream Man - k
The Pearl-driller - g
Thief In The Night - g
Between Us There Is Nothing - k
National Steel - obvs
Beware Of The Beautiful Stranger - g
====
Prayers Against The Hitman - g
Me To Thank - k
Perfect Moments - k
Sessionman's Blues - k
Apparition In Las Vegas - g
Dancing Master - k
The Commercial Traveller - k
Have You Got A Biro I Can Borrow - g
The Colours Of The Night - g
Thirty year man - k
====
Canoe - k
Thanks to Colin Crooks for producing this. My list got some of the sequence wrong. As you see, a real box of delights. Pete was in strong vocal form, and in the intimate surroundings, we all felt privileged to hear these songs in close-up as it were. This augurs well for future gigs this year. Eyemouth next!

Thanks for all involved for organising this - it was an exceptionally good evening and Pete played a few real rarities - I don't remember hearing the song about the Traveling Salesman before.
Good weather had also been organised for the weekend, which was a bonus as the scenery was at its best.
Many thanks to Pete and also to Anna Ryder for an excellent opening set.
Best regards, ChrisH
