It seems we cannot post a reply to a thread if it's locked. Why then does the option "Notify of Replies" exist for such threads? It seems inconsistent!
Or have I missed something? I usually do

Locks are applied by the Mod or Admin. Either may continue the thread by adding a reply, if first he unlocks it. In this case notification will be made.
