Well spotted indeed, it could be just what I'm looking for. As with many things I came to British history rather late in life. My school life was spent learning Australian history, year after year. There's nothing actually wrong with Australian history, it's just that there's not very much of it, so when I stumbled on a copy of Churchill's "A History of the English-Speaking Peoples" I felt like Dom Perignon when he discovered champagne. That is probably the worst analogy in the history of the English-speaking peoples, and according to QI the champagne thing is an urban myth anyway, but you know what I mean. I've since read it a few times, but with no real knowledge of how Churchill rates as historian. He rates fairly well as a saviour of the free world so perhaps I've put too much trust in him. Just in case, I've been intermittantly looking for a work that is similar in scope but by someone else. I spend a fair amount of time in a vehicle so audio is a logical medium. How say you, fellow MVs? Is it the sort of thing I'm after?
