"France Football" is a magazine about French football as you probably have already guessed and perahps the last place you'd expect to find a quote from Clive, more especially in an article about Sebastian Coe whose contribution to French footlball remains minimal. However, there it was: <<Coe, alors recordman du monde de la distance (800 metres), et grandissime favori, reçut sa medaille d'argent "comme si on lui avait tendu un étron", pour reprendre la petite phrase assassine du poète et chroniqueur australien Clive James.>> The article was by a French sports journalist and it's interesting that he thinks of Clive as a poet first rather than a celebrity.
