Toft House, 15th March - set-list and report

Safely home yesterday (Sunday), Pete reports that the event went at least as well as expected, after an enjoyable drive over from Ambleside on Saturday, via Kendal and Tebay. Organiser Leigh was disappointed by the number of no-shows, but the quality of the audience, in terms of their attention and appreciation, quite outweighed any shortfall in number. None of that happy crowd has posted here, as yet, so it comes to me to summarise. Reportedly the sound quality was excellent, as it had been in 2023 (you'll recall that last year's event had to be cancelled).

Thanks, in passing, to Space Cowboy for his Ambleside report. Two days later, at Toft House in Middlesbrough, Pete played:

The Man Who Walked Toward The Music (g)
Ice-Cream Man (g)
Rain-Wheels (p)
The Flowers And The Wine (p)
Errant Knight (g)
Driving Through Mythical America (g)
Sunrise (p)
You Can’t Expect To Be Remembered (p)
The Beautiful Changes (g)
Girl On The Train (g)

[Interval]

Time To Burn (p)
Between Us There Is Nothing (p)
Beware Of The Beautiful Stranger (g)
The Way You Are With Me (g)
Sessionman’s Blues (p)
You Alone Will Be My Last Adventure (p)
Screen-Freak (p)
Have You Got A Biro I Can Borrow? (g)
Thirty Year Man (p)
Master Of The Revels (p)

[Encore:]

Together At Last (g)

Tony Farren had asked in advance for Driving Through Mythical America at Ambleside, and Pete so enjoyed playing it there that he included it in his Toft House set as well. In contrast, Rider To The World's End was requested (during the interval) here, but Pete wasn't sure he could do it justice without preparation, much as he likes the bit about "the suddenly relaxing set of knuckles". Maybe next time.

All in all a grand pair of gigs, which Pete enjoyed enormously, despite the travelling. I expect he'll be back.

It was myself ( Phil Burgum ) who asked for Driving Through Mythical America. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am glad Pete did as well.

Quite right, Phil. My requests at Ambleside were "Dancing Master" and "Over the High Side".
