As part of the 10th Anniversary celebrations of their Kings Road establishment (The Pheasantry), Pizza Express will be hosting four nights of special concerts, each featuring a selection of the venue's favourite artists. Of most interest here is the show on Wednesday, November 13th, when Pete Atkin will share the evening with two other acts, singer Sarah Moule (Mrs Simon Wallace), and comedy musical duo Kit & McConnel. Simon will be on hand to provide piano accompaniment to Pete's and Sarah's songs. The £35 ticket includes entry to the pre-show drinks reception on the first floor of The Pheasantry from 6pm. "Dress to impress", they say. Booking is currently open here. Steve

Pete reports a most satisfactory evening on Wednesday. Not a full-scale Pete Atkin show this time, as he was sharing the bill with two other 'acts'. The evening began with Sarah Moule, accompanied, as (almost) ever, by Simon Wallace. Simon remained at the Steinway while Pete took to the stage with, for a change, his nylon-strung Taylor rather than the now-familiar black Atkin 'Small Jumbo'. The sequence was: Time To Burn Perfect Moments Be Careful When They Offer You The Moon An Empty Table (no gtr) Beware Of The Beautiful Stranger Thirty Year Man (no gtr) Master Of The Revels (no gtr) As far as Pete could discern, just one or two of our number were present, but evidently it was a most appreciative audience, despite (or perhaps because of) unfamiliarity with the songs. In that sweet moment of silence between the end of 'An Empty Table' and the applause, a woman's voice was heard to say "Perfect". Veteran comedian/musicians Kit and McConnel closed the show. Were you there? Any observations to add? Steve

Yes, Steve. I was there - and had been in October. Not exactly a review but in my view Pete was on top form. I love the old stuff, of course, but his spare rendition of 'Empty Table' was superb. Very moving. Bob
